By: Butch dikes…please explain. I’ve known and worked with a few, and I view them as another man. But, when it comes to the lesbians that love them….what’s the difference between a very masculine woman and a slightly effeminate man?

Stay strong!! Keep your hair short, Kristen. If not for you, for the rest of us who did do it for a short time but eventually caved in and took the path of least resistance.

Hey, I love your hair. In fact, I used to wear my hair that short. And even with the D cups, I still got called 'sir.' To that I say, screw 'em. I don't view it as rebellion, or an answer to the gals in 8th grade (hair aside, middle school females should all be shot). I really think it's about how you like to wear it, and how it feels right. And how it let's the beauty that is your FACE, EYES and SPIRIT, show through.

Listen to your father. xo

Must be the genes Kid.....I got nothing but crap when I was in the 8th grade when the in, cool haircut was the "Flat top with Fenders". (Will try to locate a picture online). Picture in your mind if you can a very short flat cut on top of the head with the sides being long and swooped back (like fenders on a '57 Chevy). My hair unfortunately wanted to do its own thing and simply would not comply. No matter how many times I tryed and no matter how many different barbers I visited, mine always turned out more like a fuzzy top with bumpers. All my buddies had no problem with the cut and of course got all the girls. Finally went to a wavey cut all slicked back in many different directions....Thank God Elvis appeared on the scene with something similar and all was well. Got real involved in sports in High School and all of us guys were shaving our heads close so the football helmet fit better or so our hair didn't interfere with the throw to first base or shooting a hoop on the basketball court. A real God send for me.

Couldn't care less about your hair Kid, the way you dress or anything else about your appearance. I know what's inside and couldn't be more proud of my daughter and what she has to offer society. Just glad you're MY daughter....and tell people that every time I'm asked about you and how you're doing. Never stop being my Kristin!!!!!!

For the record, I admire your hair. I haven't known you very long or very well, so I didn't realize all of your emotion behind it, but the first time we met I thought to myself, "I wish I had the guts to have my hair that short." Be who you are!

I love you too, Ant! I actually love everyone I posted about, even the lawyers and middle schoolers. I've learned a lot form them.

It's not about the hair. You're right. It's just not. It's a proxy for the other bit - the being yourself bit. Ant that bit can be tricky and messy. At least it has been for me. Even if I act like I have it all figured out.

And you're right that I need to let it go - let go of what other people think or feel about what I do. (Gosh that sounds easy, doesn't it.) I think that might just be the only way I'll know for sure that what I'm doing - with my hair, with my life - is for me and not for anyone else.

To hair or not to hair....that is the question. And it's not about the hair. You know, we all know that you are totally beautiful either way. It, totally in my own humble opinion, is your rebellion, your rebellion with our society, with all of us. I'm not saying that as a criticism or to demean you at all. I love you too much for that. Strictly observation. As you said, "And it can be very hard sometimes to know the difference between what it is that other people want you to be, and what it is you want to be. It can be very difficult, but very important." I'm 58 years old and still struggle with that everyday of my life. Consequently 3 x's and long hair that irritates many people. If it truly makes you feel free.....truly free and good about yourself, then damn it, shave. If you are saying shove it to those middle schoolers, lawyers and anyone else that judges you, let it go. Just let it go. The sooner, the better. I love you Kristin.
